Grateful for snail mail

ImageThis is the time of year when I realize that I’ve watched my friends’ kids grow up via Christmas card.  I’m so GLAD we still have snail mail to deliver these little time capsules to my mailbox.  They go up on the wall above my home desk and I glance at them and marvel that people my age are being so, well, grown up, shepherding those precious lives through this awesome and really scary world.

Of course, the adults are in the photos too.  But come on, we all know Mom and Dad are just in there for a size reference.

Some of the kids I’ve met.  Some I might never meet.  Some are as far away as Nepal.  What really gets me is that most of them aren’t babies anymore.  When did that happen?

I treasure, especially this year, their smiles and their promise.
